29O: THE SCARS OF THE FLOODS IN VALENCIA
Tuesday, October 29, 2024, has been forever marked in the history of Valencian people. The severity of the ‘DANA’ storm that struck the region of l’Horta Sud caused an unprecedented catastrophe, both in terms of the number of people dead and also on the scale of the devastation left by the floods. The early warning arrived at 20:11 when dozens of people were already dead. Thousands of people came to help, showing that solidarity was also immense.
NOT A CHILDREN’S GAME
Just a few weeks before the Olympic Games 2024, more than 150 young migrants who were surviving in the streets of Paris, occupied the Maison des Métallos, a cultural centre that was supposed to host the Chinese delegation during the Olympics. With the slogan Pas de logement, Pas de JO (No housing, No Olympic Games), they claimed for the right to decent housing, access to education and to the health care.
ABELLES EN TRANSHUMÀNCIA

In the streets of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or in abandoned houses at the outskirts of the city, teenagers who migrated alone survive without access to basic supplies, health care or education. Despite all the obstacles they have to face in this outermost region of Europe, youth and friendship find a way.
MELILLA, ONE YEAR AFTER THE MASSACRE
On June 24, 2022, around 2,000 people attempted to cross the border between Spain and Morocco, at the Barrio Chino border crossing point, in Melilla. After the intervention of police forces, at least 37 people died and more than 70 people estimated to be missing people. One year later, activists and organizations demonstrated in Melilla claiming for justice and reparation for the victims.
INCENDI A LA VALL D’EBO
Iniciat el 13 d’agost de 2022 i amb un balanç de 12.000 hectàrees cremades en un perímetre de 100 km, l’incendi forestal a la Vall d’Ebo va ser considerat com el pitjor de l’última dècada al País Valencià, superat en xifres pocs dies després per l’incendi forestal de Betxí. Més de 1.500 persones van ser desallotjades pel perill de les flames.
RENÀIXER DE LES RUÏNES
Aquesta història podria situar-se en qualsevol poble afectat pel despoblament, però té una particularitat: ocorre a Olla, un poble situat en ple parc natural de la serra Calderona, a la comarca del Camp de Túria, que va quedar despoblat en el segle XVII. Durant les centúries posteriors i de manera intermitent, va donar recer a alguns grups de població fins que, als anys noranta, l’últim habitant va abandonar-lo. Ara fa una dècada des que Olla va tornar a la vida, gràcies a un grup de joves que recuperaren les cases i els camps. I no és l’únic cas. Diverses iniciatives han permés recuperar aldees abandonades, fixar població i crear un model de vida sostenible i cooperatiu.
POLONIA, EL MURO DE LA EUROPA FORTALEZA
Un muro de cinco metros de altura que atraviesa un bosque protegido, una zona de exclusión donde no pueden pasar las organizaciones ni la prensa, centros cerrados de detención y mensajes a favor del militarismo: esta es la estrategia del gobierno polaco contra la migración que activistas y organizaciones locales combaten en el discurso y en la práctica.

In the north of France, migrants face harsh living conditions until they cross the English Channel with small rubber boats. The ‘zéro point de fixation’ policies in the northern coast of France and the ‘Stop The Boats’ campaign promoted by Rishi Sunak in the UK, are increasing the risks and the violence on this ever-growing migration route. Humanitarian organizations claim that without safe passages, migrants and asylum seekers are being pushed to more danger and more death.
